Student spotlights

Hear from some of the students themselves about what it's like to study at the Centre for New Writing.

Two students on the inaugural MA in Screenwriting course, Jessy Keely and David Ratigan, were snapped up by the film and television industry before even graduating. Read their student spotlights, as well as those of other students who have gone on to find success, and gain insight into Centre for New Writing courses, teaching, and opportunities:

  • MA Screenwriting student Jessy Keely

    Jessy Keely | Screenwriting

    Jessy graduated at the end of 2016 and quickly secured a position with Lime Pictures as a researcher on Hollyoaks following an internship arranged by the Centre for New Writing.

  • Screenwriting MA student David Rattigan

    David Rattigan | Screenwriting

    On the strength of his Screenwriting MA portfolio, David has been signed to Curtis Brown, one of the leading agencies in the UK.

  • Screenwriting MA student Tom Carlin

    Tom Carlin | Screenwriting

    After completing a summer placement with L.A. Productions in Liverpool, Tom was asked to continue to work for them in a paid role, reading scripts and writing reports remotely.

  • Screenwriting MA student Katie Lythgow

    Katie Lythgow | Screenwriting

    Katie is now a Junior Storyliner for Hollyoaks. She describes the Screenwriting MA as 'not a typical academic course – it's very vocational and is focused on preparing you for a job.'
