Carmen Nasr
Carmen Nasr is a British-Lebanese writer for stage and screen. In 2027, Carmen will make her National Theatre debut, with her play SAMIRA. In 2026, her adaptation of Babak Anvari’s Iranian horror film Under the Shadow, will be directed by Nadia Latif at the Almeida Theatre. Further commissions include new work for Shakespeare’s Globe and Hampstead Theatre.
Carmen’s previous work includes the breakout play 'Dubailand' (Finborough Theatre, 2018) and 'The Climbers' directed by Guy Jones (Theatre by the Lake, 2022). She has also created ensemble-led work including 'The Maladies' (Almeida Young Company/The Yard, 2022); 'Let Kilburn Shake' (Kiln Theatre’s Young Company, 2018) and 'I am Lysistrata' (Makani/Park Theatre, 2024).
She was awarded the prestigious Channel 4 Playwrights’ Scheme award in 2017, and her early play 'The House of my Father' was longlisted for the Bruntwood Prize.
For screen, Carmen is also developing her first original TV project with support from Sky Productions.
